How to apply to UK medicine schools

How to apply to Oxford, Cambridge, and top universities

Apply by 15 October 2023 for entry to courses starting in 2024. That means you must have completed every section, paid for and sent your application by this time.

We recommend sending your application as soon as you can, that way you have enough time to overcome any issues you face.

UCAS international students’ deadlines

UCAS regular deadlines (RD) apply to both British and international students. However, many universities and colleges will continue to accept applications from international students until the beginning of the course.

Don’t leave it too late, because if you do get a place, you’ll still need to arrange a visa and your accommodation.

What is UCAS Track?

UCAS track is a system that allows you to track your progress on your application, accept or decline offers, and even defer or switch your university course details.

You can access UCAS track after your UCAS application is submitted. In UCAS track you can see the status of your application, which universities have or haven’t given you offers and the next steps for you to follow based on your UCAS application status.

If you use our FREE UCAS application service, then you will receive notifications from our advisors without having to track your UCAS application by yourself.

What is UCAS Extra?

UCAS Extra is another chance for you to gain a place at a university or college if you have not received any offers on your five application choices or have declined offers from your chosen universities.

You can make multiple Extra choices before the deadline, but you can only select one at a time and once you’ve declined an offer, you can’t reapply for it.

Your UCAS applications can be rejected for many reasons. If you failed to receive any offers from universities, then perhaps your application may need revision, or it may not match the university and course you are applying to.

Can I withdraw my UCAS application?

If you change your mind about applying, you can cancel your UCAS application and request a refund within 14 days of applying. If it has been more than 14 days, you can still withdraw but no refund will be given.

You can withdraw your UCAS application at any time; however, you won’t be able to apply again until the next admissions cycle. If you are uncertain about completely withdrawing your UCAS application, you can choose to defer your application instead.

If it’s just one choice you’d like to withdraw, then you can cancel it (as long as the university or college hasn’t sent us their decision yet).
