The 2022 medical school rankings have finally arrived – yay! But with so many different ranking organisations, how do you know which one to believe?
There are a number of different guides which base their lists on different measuring factors. QS World University Rankings, the Guardian and the Complete University Guide are some of the most popular ranking organisations for British degrees. However, with a quick Google search you’ll discover that there are even more out there!
There are 44 medical schools across the nation, and all vary in their teaching style, selection process, and education standard. While many ranking tables exist, they do not all agree. This is because the rankings are influenced by indefinable criteria, such as the university’s reputation, or the level of student satisfaction – both being difficult to accurately measure.
So, without further ado, here are the top three ranking lists:
The numbers in the QS list refer to their position in the world rankings, not the UK-wide rankings.
As you can see, the lists do differ considerably, with the Guardian Rankings including some new contenders whilst the QS World University Rankings primarily include traditional British universities.
It’s important to remember that all medical schools in the UK are regulated by the British General Medical Council (GMC) who sets the standard, content and outcome for all medical undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. This means that regardless of which university you choose, you are assured to receive a high-quality education.
