The Chevening Award: Apply Today

The Chevening Award is an international scholarship scheme given to students who demonstrate extraordinary leadership qualities and academic potential to undertake postgraduate study or courses in universities in the United Kingdom. Students from over 160 countries are eligible to apply and funding is provided by the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office and its partner organisations. Two types of awards are offered to its applicants: the Chevening Scholarship and the Chevening Fellowship.

Chevening offers future leaders, influencers, and decision-makers the opportunity to develop professionally and academically, network extensively, experience British culture, and build lasting positive relationships with people from around the world.

Since 1983, over 50,000 professionals have studied in the UK through the Chevening programme. Its objective is to build a lasting network of international friends who will contribute to the UK and their home countries.

How do I know if I am eligible?

First and foremost, you must be from a Chevening eligible country. To see if you fall under this category, please click here. Furthermore, you must be willing to live in your home country for a minimum of two years after completing your Chevening Award. You must also have an undergraduate degree and be eligible to apply for a British postgraduate degree. Lastly, you must also have at least two years work experience prior to applying.

You’re not eligible if you hold British citizenship or are a dual British citizen unless you are applying from Hong Kong or a British Overseas Territory. You’re also ineligible if you are related to a British government civil servant or if you have previously received a UK-government funded scholarship to study in the UK.
